Does anyone know if there will be a limited edition of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?

I am a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series, even to the unfortunate truth of having a really old computer with windows 98 on it so i can play arena XD but I am already going to pre-order skyrim, and I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is going to be a limited edition version of the game before the vanilla version is released? If so I'll wait and get that instead XD

Please reply!

Thanks in advance!

:DDoes anyone know if there will be a limited edition of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
Most likely knowing Bethesda, it'll be a a bunch of in-box extras, like they did with Oblviion, at very least till E3Does anyone know if there will be a limited edition of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
Yes, although at 拢130 I can't see it being a big hit

I doubt you are going to find something of that size, freedom, and complexity without it being an MMO, I mean there are a lot online that are as big or much much bigger but they aren't self contained like that.Know any other games that are like the elder scrolls games?

You can try the Stalker games, Fallout 3 (VERY SIMILAR) or Far Cry 2.

In the elder scrolls games the nords they are based of the norse people ain't they?

You can tell by there design and in skyrim you can see it being a place you would see thor raging about. And lets not forget skyrims new threat frost giants sounds familiar. Is elder scrolls Nords based from norse mythology?

How bad are the sexual themes in elder scrolls oblivion?

hey guys i was just wondering, how bad are the sexual themes in elder scrolls oblivion? i am asking because i live in a very strict home as far sexual stuff goes. and when my parents see sexual themes or sexual content on the back of the box, the is almost no room for discussion. and if they are pretty bad, is there a way to turn them off or simply ignore them? How bad are the sexual themes in elder scrolls oblivion?
There are sexual themes in Oblivion? I have 38 hours in it and this is the first I've heard of it.

So, to answer your question, barely any.
That sucks, when it comes to rating games the ESRB only seems to carry a 17+ sticker
honestly, I played the game for almost 5 years and NEVER came across even partial nudity. There was nothing sexual about the game considering half the characters aren't even human, The Sims has more sex in it. There's no way to turn off sxual content in edler scrools (any version) because there IS no sexual content. The worst your parents are going to see is a torn short revealing a belly button, and VERY brief cleveage (again, there's next to none, you see more revealing outfits in a high school)How bad are the sexual themes in elder scrolls oblivion?
The only sexual themes are when a girl wants to hook up, but when you get to her house you killer. You kill her because she has been robbing and murdering so guards order you to.
There is vague reference to prostitution, but that's as far as it goes. How bad are the sexual themes in elder scrolls oblivion?
i played oblivion and there's hardly any sexual themes at all.

I cant wait to play skyrim iv been a big fan of the elder scrolls since morrowind and i was just wondering if skyrim is as good as i have been thinking.

And because i don't trust sources on the internet about werewolves. While you have been playing skyrim have you heard or seen anything about werewolves in the game i want to know if i can play as one when i get skyrim for my birthday. Is elder scrolls skyrim as good as we hoped?

Can I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?

I've been wondering about getting Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion for the Xbox 360 and I've wondered what kind of character I should have

I decided to try out full mage-thing but I'am not sure if you can play the whole game based on magic

can you?Can I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
Sure you could, but it is so much better and more efficient to just start choping down enemies.
yes u can because if you ever get into a close combat fight you can summon armor and weapons but its takes longer than any other class to level upCan I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
You can but it is very hard.I rely heavily on magic weapons and only use magic in a true emergency.Even the mages and wizards in the game have weapons on them, including staffs, daggers and other enchanted weapons. You will also have to deal with a limit on the magic you can cast at all levels unless you cheat using God Mode. You are better off using your magic until you run out then use your weapons to finish enemies off.
Yes i have a level 47 mage and his specialised skills are all magic. It is extremely easy when you reach the high levels but it's a painful slope. If i were you i would use at least 1 weapon type and the rest magic. Basically if you want to survive on magic then always use target spells and conjuration. Touch spells usually result in a nasty blow from an enemy.

Hope This HelpedCan I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
yes and no. Magic is a very powerful weapon in oblivion, but occasionally, when fighting a number of baddies at once, you may find your magicka depleted for a time, and a pure mage may have difficulties during the time it takes the magicka to build back up. Also, you'll experience difficulties when facing the lies of Mancor Cameron and people like him who are able to reflect all but the most powerful magic. The answer therefore is to be a battlemage, still a powerful magic user, but the battlemage is ok with a blade too - when you need it, the blade skill is very handy indeed
My mom is playing as a mage and she is better then my whole family put together. She can knock down her enemies- no matter how fierce or hard they are to kill- with one fireball. You can even join the Mages Guild to do quests specified around magic. However, it is always useful to have a good weapon in handy because Magica takes a while to regenerate.
Yea but its not as fun as being a melee fighter like a Nord.
No if your a lower level you will need a sword until you are a higher level. you should join the arena and level up there in the imp. city.
Yes, out of all the Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion is the most forgiving. You could get by using only your fists if you wanted to (believe me, I have tried it). Magic is probably the easiest class, but it isnt nearly as in depth as previous games. For example, in Morrowind, you can use levitation spells that allow you to fly, or slow your fall. Not so in oblivion, mainly because the cities are located in interior cells, so you can't reach them by jumping over the walls like in previous games in the series. Also, in oblivion, magicka regenerates over time, unlike in other elder scrolls games, where you need to sleep or use an item to recharge magicka. Hope this helped, and have fun playing oblivion.

Should I get the addons in elder scrolls IV: oblivion before playing?

I'm getting the elder scrolls/bioshock bundle and I was wondering if I should get the addons before playing. I wanted both games so I figured getting the bundle would be the best deal, even if it's not the game of the year edition. Will it matter if I get the addons in the middle of playing or should I get them right away?Should I get the addons in elder scrolls IV: oblivion before playing?
depending what platform you use it would be a better idea to get at least the shivering isles if you are playing on a 360 or ps3. there are a couple of rather annoying glitches associated with installing shivering isles right off the bat, the main of which is a glitch in the levelling of some rewards for quests in the shivering isles. a couple of otherwise really good rewards are locked at the level one stage if you start a new game with the dlc already installed. this has been confirmed for both the ps3 and 360. if you dont care about that the do what you wantShould I get the addons in elder scrolls IV: oblivion before playing?
They can be added into a pre-existing save game, so you don't need to get them before starting.Should I get the addons in elder scrolls IV: oblivion before playing?
YES it would get them right away becuse it will affect ur playing game its better if u get the add ons

but my main suggestion Is probably Fable 2Does anyone know of any good sword fighting games that are like Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion?
you could try Two worlds, i have it for XBOX360 but i think it's also for computer, be warned this game is a shallow comparison to oblivion it terms of character creation, storyline and overall game play but it's the closest I've found to it. you could also try a few MMOs online like perfect world, Metin 2, maplestory, dark ages and runescape, none of these are as good as oblivion but some are in the same genre.Does anyone know of any good sword fighting games that are like Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion?
I like Tales of Symphonia (for Gamecube), and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The first is REALLY long. Personally better than the second. But I DEFINATELY rocommend it!
why buy a different game elder scrolls rule. in the game i have an enchanted akarivi Katana and it owns

  • Can anyone's computer actually play the elder scrolls V Skyrim?

The elder scrolls V Skyrim has been released (hyperventilation) and without doubt the best platform to play it on is PC, but seeing the system requirements makes me wonder if anyone actually CAN play it on PC without a BEAST of a system that costs more than an average mid sized car.

So my question is, has anyone been able to play the game (not just run, I mean really play lol) on an average windows Vista/7?Can anyone's computer actually play the elder scrolls V Skyrim?
There are reasons why people pay more money for an above-average gaming machine...and it's to meet the requirements that modern games need in order to properly run. Anyone who has bought a high-end laptop in the last 6 months that has a nice dedicated GPU should be able to play Skyrim with little issue.
I don't know what you're talking about... Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 have much stricter hardware requirements.

A fast dual-core processor and a $100 video card is enough to run Skyrim at a level that exceeds the XBox. For $600 you can easily build yourself a full tower PC that will have hardware that exceeds what's recommended for Skyrim.

If you were looking at Alienware or you base the Prices of a gaming PC off their prices then I can see your confusion. Alienware's prices are almost as bad as Apple's.

My PC's hardware more than exceeds that game... but I don't own Skyrim. Here's what you need to play the game at High settings.

    Phenom II X4 945 quad-core
    4gb DDR3-1333
Radeon 6770 or Nvidia GTX 550ti

What happens after you die in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?

I'm looking to buy the game Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I have been researching a lot to see if the game is good. I've been looking online to see if the answer is elsewhere, but I have gotten nothing on it. Can any of you good people tell me what happens after you die in this game? By the way is the game any good? What happens after you die in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
You just reload your previous save. Also it is a great game.
Obviously this one is the best games.

    The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I am pretty sure you just reload at your last checkpoint. I wasn't a fan of the game. If you like exploring an open world and you enjoy deep RPG's you will probably like it though. I didn't like how there was not a lot of variation in the enemies and characters. It is definitely worth a try since you can probably get it dirt cheap right now.
yes, it is actually one of my favorites. there is tons of stuff to do in the game and you could probably log a good 100+ hours if you did everything in the game. i dont know what you mean by after you die..but once you beat the game you can keep playing it if thats what you mean. What happens after you die in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
fantastic game, and like everyone else said you just have to re-load a previous save. but it auto saves every time you go in or out of a door, or if you fast travel somewhere :)

you can get sucked into that game though, its amazing
Dude that games amazing buy it for sure!

and just like everyone else said you get your saved files and you can load back there:)
Game is amazing. I played it for 3 years and loved it. Still play a little sometimes. When u die u just go back to your last save. Get the game its amazing!!!!
    The game's awesome;

    Now, back to the question:

After you die, you get a load save menu.

No, most people don't even know there was one before oblivion.

    A resounding NO

Good luck and Happy gamingDo I have to play The Elder Scrolls 1 to play The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for x box360?
No you wouldn't. I havent played them and from what I hear elder scrolls 1 and 2 where awfull anyway. If you are not on a budget I would wait till elder scrolls V scyrim realeses on 11/11/11 it is going to be epic but will cost about double of what oblivion is going for. Other great games that play just like oblivion and are made by same company is fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas. Basically same thing just future post apocalyptic theme.Do I have to play The Elder Scrolls 1 to play The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for x box360?
No. They're in the same world, but each takes place in a different area. A few books in the game talk about the other places, but you don't have to read them.
Not really, they all take place in the same world and a few things cross over, but each game is it's own story.

Although i haven't played any of the elder scrolls, i have played a lot of similar games and that is the type of character i like to use.In elder scrolls what character is fast, sneaky and good at ranged attacks e.g archery?
    Depends which Elder Scrolls.

Assuming you mean Oblivion (ES IV) (although many of morrowinds attributes are EXACTLY the same)

If you select your attributes and birthsign to corespond with the sneaky, good at ranged 'rouge' kind of thing then select attributes that fit that. For example, create a custom class for yourself, but for a birthsign i would choose either 'the theif' 'the shadow' or 'the tower'

If you really want a player that is more naturally talented at ranged weapons (although the difference is only slight and barely noticeable, you could pick any character really and just be as good) i would choose a wood elf... more nimble and sneaky and agile... and (supposedly) the best archers.

The other (for more acrobatic and sneaky terms) is [not a jaguar man] a kajiit, which is a cat-like creature.

It does not matter which you choose, you only have about 5+ bonus to these attributes you want by selecting these races, and that could easily be gained by an extra 5 minutes practice.

You are looking for the class 'Theif' (although in other RPG's refered to as Rouge)

It is also a personal preference (although i would rather run in and slice a guys head off, but be sneaky about it?!?!)

Good luck with your game!!!... xx

See here to find your own info on races and their attributes...

For Oblivion ,I used the Jaguar one. YOu can also choose the wood elf.

When will The Elder Scrolls V be released?

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the Elder Scrolls V. I am hoping it will be on the current generation of consoles. I loved Morrowind and Oblivion, and I can't wait for the next installment.

What features do you think may be included? When will The Elder Scrolls V be released?
I am awaiting The Elder Scrolls V as well, trust me.. I've got a couple of thousand hours of Oblivion game play already and there's only so much you can do and so many times you can go through the game.. lol

Anyway, Bethesda was quoted in Maximum PC last year as saying Elder Scrolls V will be out some time in 2010 so it will be on current-gen consoles and PC.. (They have no interest in the Wii.)

    http://www.maximumpc.com/tags/Elder+Scro鈥?/a>

There's no official word on what TES:V will entail.. However, I've heard unconfirmed rumors that Bethesda may consider an MMORPG-style format, as it would be a natural progression of the series and just might give Blizzard's World Of Warcraft some competition..

I have no doubt that some of Fallout 3's DNA will make it into TES:V, as Oblivion's DNA is obviously in Fallout 3.. Personally, I'm hoping for limb damage on myself and opponents, being able to nail those opponents to the wall of a cave or ruin using a crossbow, maybe collecting idols or statues to boost my attributes like the bobbleheads in F3, armor/weapon creation or upgrades using items found throughout the world, sneaking up behind an enemy and lopping off their sword arm before they can attack, etc..
i read in game informer that after new vegas (fallout) comes out they will start working on elder scrolls V

When will The Elder Scrolls V be released?
Its said its going to be released sometime in 2010, so you have about a year more to wait (I Say it might be longer, just because no info has been released).

VERY little has been talked about when it comes to the fifth, so noone really knows much about gameplay, features, sotry, etc.
I e-mailed Bethesda about a month ago asking the same thing. They told me that there are currently no plans for another. But that was a month ago so it may have changed. When will The Elder Scrolls V be released?
The only mention of a fifth game was that it "could" be released in 2010...so it may be comming in 2010 or never.

Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?

I really liked Fallout 3 %26amp; New Vegas, so I'm thinking of playing an elder scrolls game. I am wondering if Skyrim will be much better than previous versions of Elder Scrolls and if I should start with that one? Will it have much better graphics than previous elder scrolls? Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
Fallout 3 and New Vegas aren't that similar to the Elder Scrolls series, so just keep that in mind. I played Oblivion and it was a lot of fun. In some ways they are similar in the fact that they give you a lot of freedom. Sometimes too much freedom. It will have better gameplay and graphics then the previous games, as well as a huge sweeping storyline. Plus you get to kill dragons. If you consider the progression from one generation to the next, I definitely would say that it is going to be the best in the series. (From what I have seen)
Hard to say, as it hasn't been released yet. However, gameplay videos I've seen make the game look simply amazing. The graphics, gameplay, and fight-system are completely upgraded and it looks Game of The Year worthy already. It would be good for you to try out Oblivion, it's pretty cheap now and you can get versions that already come with the DLCs. However, Skyrim comes out in about 3 weeks so I doubt you'll be able to come close to finishing Oblivion by then. Hope I helped! :)Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
Look at videos. Theres a 30 minute demo on the site...
i love the elder scrolls series and fallout series.skyrim looks to be another amazing elder scrolls game.if you haven't played any of them, you can start with skyrim because they are all separate games from each other.if you would like to try an elder scrolls game i would suggest morrowind game of the year for either pc or xbox 360,i think this is a much better game than oblivion.oblivion is a good game but the leveling system for the weapons and armor was not a good idea,at least not to me it wasn't.in morrowind if you can find it,you can use it.you can check out this site for more help and info.hope this helps.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/morrowind:morro鈥?/a>Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
It's going to have better graphics, and I'm sure it will be an amazing game. But Oblivion was one of the best games I've ever played (that and Fallout 3) and it's definitely worth picking up. The way the series is made, though, it doesn't matter what game you start with. You can get Oblivion (since it's cheap now), and give it a go, or you can wait and play Skyrim instead and then go back and try Oblivion later if you like. It's really up to you.

U should have bought the Game of the Year Deluxe version as it contains all the official expansions. And it's way cheaper than buying the parts separately. They have a 5th Anniversary edition now too, but I wasn't overly impressed with it. It's just the first Game of the Year version with a fancy map and some extra "making of" content. It didn't have the other expansions beyong Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles.

But I think it still might be cheaper for u to just buy the disc version of Game of the Year or Game of the Year Deluxe and then forget the Steam version. And it would certainly be smarter as there are many issues with the Steam version (especially with Windows 7 and Vista). Also the disc game performs much better than the Steam version.

Do I need to get more than The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?

I can get The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion from a friend of mine. Do I need to get and play the other Elder Scroll games to get the story, or is it more of a stand alone story like Fallout 3 is to the rest of the fallout series?Do I need to get more than The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?
Like Fallout 3 with the previous Fallout games, Oblivion only has small mentions back to the previous Elder Scrolls games. For example, some of the people on the docks of the Imperial City talk about and have rumors about current events happening on an island that was part of the Morrowind game.Do I need to get more than The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?
I would try find morrowind(elder scrolls 3) on ebay, it's for the original xbox yet it plays on 360.

It's one of the best games ive ever played :DDo I need to get more than The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?
It's a stand alone one to my knowledge, and an amazing one at that. I'm playing it at the moment, passing time before I can afford FIFA11!

  • In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is there any way to repair enchmants of an item without paying someone to?

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is there any way to repair enchmants of an item without paying someone to?In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is there any way to repair enchmants of an item without paying someone to?
To repair enchanted items by yourself, you have to have at least level 50 Armorer (Journeyman level) and a repair hammer ( obviously)

To recharge enchanted items, you can either get someone to recharge it by paying them, each Mage's Guild hall in each city has at least 1 person that does this.

To do it yourself, you need a soul trap spell ( to cast the most basic one, you need at least level 25 Mysticism) and a soul gem ( which can range from Petty to Grand). Find a monster to kill, and before you kill them, cast the soul trap spell on them while you have a soul gem in your inventory, kill them before the spell ends and you'll capture their soul.

I recommend capturing Greater souls or Grand souls since they provide more "points" of energy. The points in this case might look something like this when you scroll over a weapon: "1240/1600". A Greater Soul will recharge 1200 points, and a Grand Soul will recharge 1600 of those points ( Petty recharges 150, Lesser recharges 300, and Common recharges 800)

If you want to know what monsters have greater souls or higher, there's a list here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:SoulsIn The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is there any way to repair enchmants of an item without paying someone to?
Repair enchanted weapons, or recharge enchantments? Enchantments are recharged using charged could gems. Enchanted weapons can be repaired with hammers once you get your armorer level to at least Journeyman. In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, is there any way to repair enchmants of an item without paying someone to?
Yes there is you have to get your armorer skill up to a certain level then you can do it your self

I just need to know. I mean i LOVE the elder scrolls series and i dont want to see it end but i have a feeling that this is going to be the last one :(Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?
If it makes money for Bethesda, then it won't be the last.
There hasn't been any response from the producers but ask your self this why would they stop a series of games that have been recieving many good responses and selling millions. Hopefully they wont stop. Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?

  • Should I get The Elder Scrolls Skyrim althought I never played Oblivion?

I never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games, but should I get Skyrim? What's the game like and what can I expect? If it's anything like Fable then I'll really enjoy it.

Could you just give me a small insight on the game?

Thank you to all answers.Should I get The Elder Scrolls Skyrim althought I never played Oblivion?
Its always good to start a series at least one game before the latest installment, however I never played any of the elder scrolls until Skyrim. I was skeptical whether or not it could truly draw me in, keep me entertained and keep me playing. After just a few hours i knew the question was most certainly yes.

Skyrim is a different game then Oblivion so following the story without any prior knowledge isn't difficult however I would advise you to at least read the wikipedia article on Oblivion so you have some nice background knowledge of it because the gates of Oblivion have been mentioned by some NPC's in Skyrim.
Yes you should i have only had it for 10 days and played over 100 hours and not completed it yet and only level 22 its a game you can take slow and look around the world is beautiful and when you set off on a quest you will see a mountain and think well i have enough time to climb that and you get to the top and 3 hours has past then you run down and it takes 5 mins, the quests are amazing and endless also there is factions and groups you can join and become the leader of like the winterhold college you an become the arch mage and the companions you can become a werewolf and become the leader id you like a long packed game then you should buy it NOW!Should I get The Elder Scrolls Skyrim althought I never played Oblivion?
Yes. Yes you should get SkyRim. I did play Oblivion, but didn't bother with the main quests or anything, just explored caves. SkyRim is awesome, because the main quest is actually enjoyable and the characters look way better. Plus, dragons. And beards.

I suppose it's kinda like Fable, but less... cartoony. It's an awesome game, I love it already and only got it the other day! Worth the money. And the side quests are both plenty and awesome too.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the next installment in the award-winning Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim is the follow up to the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the next game from Bethesda Game Studios, creators of the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout 3.Should I get The Elder Scrolls Skyrim althought I never played Oblivion?
Checking out the other Elder Scrolls games might be beneficial but not a ton. You may not appreciate the game as much but you'll still have fun.

It is similar to Fable but better and You can choose between first and third person perspectives to play in. Most people prefer the first.

What are some good RPG games that is like Elder Scrolls Oblivion? Games must be for the xbox 360.?

A game where you can go anywhere like in Oblivion, not limited to steps. A game like Oblivion and Fallout. Not Fable because you are limited to where you can walk.

Also the game must have a lot to do just like the Elder scrolls. Hundreds of caves and stuff. What are some good RPG games that is like Elder Scrolls Oblivion? Games must be for the xbox 360.?
    Mass effect
    Dragon Age Origins
Already said here but Dragon Age would probably be your best bet.

Also, Fable II and III are really good and have a ton to do. You said "you are limited to where you can walk" but thats not really true, the game is completely open ended once you get out of the tutorial just in the beginning its just like Oblivion where you can go wherever and do whatever. You can swim, kill people, explore dungeons, complete the main quests, play mini games or just talk, etc.

If you get one, I'd recommend Fable II as Fable III is a little bit more linear and not as fun. What are some good RPG games that is like Elder Scrolls Oblivion? Games must be for the xbox 360.?

Can Elder Scrolls: Oblivion be played without a disc if I buy it for the PC?

I'm considering buying The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for the PC, and I want to know if it can be played without the disc. I don't wanna have to keep putting in a disc everytime I want to play it, that would just be annoying. Is it like a, one-time install the game on my computer and never look at the disc again sort of thing? Or would I have to have it in everytime I want to play? Can Elder Scrolls: Oblivion be played without a disc if I buy it for the PC?
To Install it, you will need the cd, but if you've already got it installed, you can use a no-cd patch/crack. You can easily find one by searching on google. Basically when you put a cd into the computer to play a game, the entire game's already installed on the computer. The idea of having to put the disk in every time is to confirm that you actually own the disk and haven't just downloaded the game off the internet. The no cd crack/patch is a file that starts up when you load up the game and tricks the game into thinking the disk is there, even if it isn't.

Will I need to play any of the past Elder Scrolls to understand Skyrim in anyway?

Will I need to play some of the older elder scrolls to understand the storyline or some other stuff? Will I need to play any of the past Elder Scrolls to understand Skyrim in anyway?
No you're good to go. None of the main story lines are ever successive so you don't have to worry about that. There might be some references that you don't understand but they aren't necessary for the game. Plus, if you are that curious, there are always hundreds of in-game books that you can read and it will give you all of the history that you need.
For the main story I'd say no. But for some refrences to say the previous dark brotherhood and thieves guild maybe. But you'll be fine. :)Will I need to play any of the past Elder Scrolls to understand Skyrim in anyway?
You do not need to play the other elder scrolls to play skyrim, but it will give you backround information. Thier are aslo refrences from past bethesda games.
No and that's what pisses me off, people think you need to have played previous elder scrolls to play this one, no, have I noticed the last games referenced in Skyrim, yes, I believe once in the loading screen when it spoke of a guy sacrificing himself to kill a giant monster dude, if you're one of those people that really can't play a game unless you played the previous games in the series, you "absolutely, positively" have to say wait a minute..."hundreds of hours of gameplay?" Skyrim is too big and gorgeous for you to be worrying about Cyrodill.%26lt;-Previous game's province. Will I need to play any of the past Elder Scrolls to understand Skyrim in anyway?
yes other wise you will be lost.
No you will still be able to understand the storyline. The only thing you might not understand is a few easter eggs in it, but you have to really look to find them.
you trap a dragon in dragon reach who later becomes your friend, then he takes you to a mountain where you enter a portal to sovengarde to kill alduin once and for all with the 3 people who banished him before using the elder scroll, this is right after you learn dragonrend by using the elder scroll to go back in time to see how it is done.

in the dark brotherhood quest astrid sets you up and is really the buy guy, cicero is the good guy, you find this out when you kill the fake emperor(you kill real emperor later)

I have the PS3 version of Oblivion

Also how does the Game of the Year: Prima Official Game Guide lay out shivering isles how does it work?!!How does Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition work?
Shivering Isles is just another quest line, similar to Knights of the Nine. In the 360 version, if you install Shivering Isles, you get a quest pop-up telling you about a door in Niben Bay, which is the gateway to the Shivering Isles. How does Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition work?
I'm pretty sure the shivering isles is more of a side story type thing. So it doesnt appear if you just do main story quest.

Does anybody know when the Elder Scrolls V is going to be released?

I know that Bethesda is working on the Fallout series right now, but I like Elder Scrolls way more than Fallout and I haven't heard anything about the new ES game yet. A year or two after its announced.

Which do you think would give a better gaming experince for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim? PC, or PS3?

I would like to get everyones opinion on what gaming platform would the the better gaming experience for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Between the choices of PS3, or PC. I will award the 10 points to whoever gives the best reasoning for their opinion. Including any technical knowledge, and personal preference. This is just a poll of sorts. I will leave the question up for several days.Which do you think would give a better gaming experince for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim? PC, or PS3?
PC. Better graphics. Availability of mods. Probably a command console.

    PC all the way.

And since Skyrim is a single player game, u don't have any of the problems of switching players. And besides they make auto switchers for those type of games.

And also another thing....hook your LCD TV up to your computer, get a wireless mouse and keyboard, and play Skyrim on the larger screen. U will be totally amazed. I compared Oblivion from the PC on the big screen with Oblivion from the PS3 on the big screen (both through the HDMI ports) and the PC just blew away the PS3. The framerate was higher too.
The PC will be the best version- Bethesda have actually said this themselves!

    Reasons:

Higher framerate- consoles can expect it locked at 30- PC gamers get the most out of their expensive kit, with 60 fps and more.

Higher Res textures, anti aliasing and other graphical features are pc only. Once again- Bethesda said this themselves

Mods: The PC version will have thousands of user created mods etc, with the free creation tools- whole new games can be got with this, it extends the life of the game immeasurably, there are rumors of some mods coming to consoles- but they won't experiance any where near as many as pc gamers- nor will they be able to fine tune the game exactly how they want it.

Mods also include un-official patches, Bethesda games are always very buggy- pc gamers get allot of these fixed long before console gamers.

The console- by this I mean the PC console, the cheat menu basically, it's not just for that though- if your character gets glitched, or a main story NPC is killed or glitched, breaking the game- you can fix that, can't do that on consoles.

Finally; the controls- mouse and keyboard are far more precise and versatile than any gamepad.Which do you think would give a better gaming experince for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim? PC, or PS3?
As with all Bethesda games the PC is the better option.

Obviously gameplay and graphics wise it will be the same on all platforms but I like to think about the modding possibilities as I am sure they will released modding tools like with every other game they make. Your game doesn't have to end when the game does as you can play user generated mods which expand or improve the game, you can also go about creating your own.
Anything Bethesda go on PC. Just a better experience and it plays better and, I don't know if it will be on Skyrim, but usually Elder Scrolls games get mods for PC and some are really fun to use. PC all the way for Elder Scrolls games.Which do you think would give a better gaming experince for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim? PC, or PS3?
    pc is best
Do you intend to play with friends? then go with ps3, much more comfortable to swap the controller than switch seats for the keyboard.

Playing alone? PC's will always offer better graphics unless you really gotta drop your settings down to minimal because you have all the features of DirectX being put to use. Looking at the system requirements you probably want a quad-core (doesn't have to be 3 GHz, thats a pretty insane requirement. probably around 2 GHz), and with a 512MB recommended requirement for graphics that should run pretty smoothly. At least its not a rockstar ported game where the graphics card needs to be a gig 'cause they really **** their ports up. I presume you have at least 3 gigs of RAM cause thats pretty standard.

Also for playing alone (or i guess with friends) the keyboard/mouse combination is so much more efficient for managing your shortcuts and menus. Though you could get a Splitfish and that might suffice as far as having a mouse is concerned for your needs.

The game is really all about the mods, so at the end of the day PC is where its at.

That's the benefits/disadvantages I see of playing on the PC, but as far as i'm concerned, unless its a fighting game it's always better on the PC (or a 3rd person action/adventure like Assassin's Creed and even then I just play with a Xbox 360 controller on my PC).

Do i need to know the backstory of The Elder scrolls to play SKYRIM?

I'm going to get The Elder Scrolls V: SKYRIM for xmas and i have not played the first four games. Do i need to know any backstory before playing SKYRIM?Do i need to know the backstory of The Elder scrolls to play SKYRIM?
There's a back story? Just kidding they really explain everything you need to know to follow the story line and all the books in the game provide more history and and sometimes helpful clues for your quests. But every Elder Scrolls game is designed as if you've never played an Elder Scrolls game before and they do a very good job at it.

That being said ... If you do like Skyrim you should at least try Oblivion and Morrowind they are both great games. Though the learning curve is steep from Skyrim (easiest to learn) to Oblivion (somewhat challenging to get used to) and Morrowind (most difficult to learn and more difficult to master its also best played on PC where you can get texture mods to make the game look better)
Not really. It's kinda nifty to have a general knowledge of what's happened previously so you can draw the connections to what's developing in Skyrim, but the game does a really good job of explaining what's gone on and what all you need to know.Do i need to know the backstory of The Elder scrolls to play SKYRIM?
When you dive into the main quest they pretty much explain it. With reference to "The Blades" who protected the Old King who was a Dragon Born. Although there weren't dragons during his time. It's pretty nice how they completely broke out of any shackles they would have had.
Not really it sort of explains the story but playing the previous Elder Scrolls would give you more detail.Do i need to know the backstory of The Elder scrolls to play SKYRIM?
That's the best part of these games, no you don't... My first Elder Scrolls game was Oblivion, the previous one...

each game has its own story but each game also implements some of the lore in the older games. So you won't be completely lost, but if a character makes a reference to an older game, you may not get it. Which isn't that big of a deal...

    So go play SKYRIM! NOWW!!
No you will be fine. With all Elderscroll games you don't even have to play the storyline, so they don't really match up. but get oblivion anyway. classic game and dirt cheap now.Can I jump right into Skyrim or should I play the earlier Elder Scrolls games first?
If you play the other Elder Scrolls first, you will be too old for games by the time you get to Skyrim.

Is the Elder Scrolls Mythology based off something?

What will the next fallout/elder scrolls game be?

Everyone knows that bethesda game studios can produce a masterpiece of a game, will there be another fallout or possibily fallout 4, same question for elder scrolls, will there be a elder scrolls VI? Where would they take place? What will the next fallout/elder scrolls game be?
With how popular both Elder Scrolls and Fallout have been for Bethesda there is no doubt that they will continue both franchises for quite some time as long as they have a fan base and people who will buy their games. Another Fallout title is much more likely than an Elder Scrolls title right now since Skyrim was just released not even 3 months ago. What the name of the Fallout title will be is anyone's guess, as is the setting of the environment and which game (Fallout 3 or New Vegas) they will decide to continue on (if they continue on either...New Vegas was a separate beast than Fallout 3 that was very well done in my opinion). I would have to assume that Bethesda will focus the next Fallout title back on the east coast, somewhere in the Boston or New York areas rather than stay on the west coast. As for where the next Elder Scrolls will take place, I would like to see the game set in either Valenwood or Elsweyr, perhaps both since both are fairly small provinces in Tamriel and it would be interesting to see how Bethesda works out travelling between various provinces in Tamriel. What would be really awesome is if Bethesda made the game be the entire continent of Tamriel, and have something like "side games" in each province that would basically be like 9 games in one disc (one for each province of the continent), and then have each successive game be a different era of Tamriel from here on out...but that's a huge undertaking and will most likely not be the case. What will the next fallout/elder scrolls game be?
I've heard rumors of a new fallout coming out relatively soon. Whether its fallout 4 or something like new vegas I don't know but Fallout is much more likely than ES 6. Most common setting choice seems to be new york.

  • How to fix error in Elder Scrolls Oblivion for xbox 360?

Today I turned on my xbox 360 and put in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion which I havent played for awhile and while played I noticed a bunch of yellow boxes with exclemation points in them around some items. What is causing this error and how do i fix it?How to fix error in Elder Scrolls Oblivion for xbox 360?
Something's been corrupted. Exit the game to your dashboard. Slide over to the memory manager under system settings. Look under Games %26gt; Elder Scrolls and you should see your saved games. Delete them and restart the game.

You'll have to start the game from scratch, of course, but it should solve the problem. How to fix error in Elder Scrolls Oblivion for xbox 360?
Re-install the game. How to fix error in Elder Scrolls Oblivion for xbox 360?
I haven't experienced this problem on my Xbox, but I do think I can help. I know that for the Xbox 360, load spots, certain screens and graphics are saved in the system's cache making loading times quicker. You can clear the cache by holding the A button while the game boots up to the point that the Bethesda Studios logo comes up. I always just wait until the main screen comes up for reassurance. Whenever load times get to be really long or things start screwing up, I generally just clear the cache and it tends to help. Hope this helps you.

In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?

I.E. Surface Cyrodil, not talking about the dungeons and caves and such, but rather what are the real life measurements of the game is one where to measure from one end of the game map to the other?

I know, weird question, but the reason I as is that they actually do give measurements for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (roughly 16 sq miles), and I am trying to figure out what to expect from the game with one I already know.In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
The series has always dramatically ratcheted up the map size from title to title, but Skyrim has been confirmed to be roughly the same size as Oblivion. The land of Skyrim covers approximately 16 square miles and contains 5 major cities and over 130 different dungeons to explore.

In interviews they did say its a little bigger than Oblivion though. In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
Skyrim is roughly the same size as oblivion, but they have shtloads more content jammed into it.

What is the story to the elder scrolls?

So I was planning on buying The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim but I'd like to know the storyline to the series so far. Does each game have its own seperate story line or is each game a different part of the same story? I'd like to know all the details, spoilers included from games 1-4 seeing as how I'm just going to skip straight to skyrim. Thanks :)What is the story to the elder scrolls?
from what i can see none of them have any thing in common on the story line so if you wanted to start off on skyrim you will not be missing any thing or much at all

well for starters it will say somthing in ur journal about a prophet in anvil for the Knights of the nine quest begining and it will also say somthing about a mysterious gate in the nibean bay for the shivering isles quest line hope i helped =]How do i know when I am starting the Knights of the Nine quests in the Elder Scrolls IV?
Once you install Shivering Isles you should automatically get a quest about a strange door being seen, so just follow that to get to the Shivering Isles. Knights of the Nine just ask people about rumurs,or go to Anvil and talk to the doomsayer outside the temple to start the quest chain.

Can I play Skyrim without playing the other Elder Scrolls games?

I haven't played any of the other Elder Scrolls games, but I want to get Skyrim. Do I need to play the others to appreciate the story line? What game should I start at?Can I play Skyrim without playing the other Elder Scrolls games?
you can play it its just you may understand alot more if you play marrowing and oblivion you can still understand it you just wont understand some of the refrences or background information but yes its very friendly to new elder scroll players
Not really. By and large the story lines in the games are separate. Might be the odd reference here or there, that you mightn't pick up on, but nothing major. Can I play Skyrim without playing the other Elder Scrolls games?
There are a few bit in the game that you'd understand more if you played the previous games but as it's set 200 years after oblivion (the previous game) you'll be fine

sorry for the noob question, new to the whole elder scrolls world

absolutely! my game is SUPER modded, and it has both shivering isles and knights of the nine. its awesome. i recommend first getting the nude mod...that makes things more intersting. also, the Heart Of The Dead quest mod is really fun.

    Love,

Le Docteur d'AmourElder scrolls 4 oblivion with shivering isles and others?
all the OFFICIAL mods (knights of the 9, shivering isles, wizard's tower, deepscorn hollow, et cetera) all go perfectly with each other. however, if you are using a fan-made mod, you are just asking for trouble if you go and install them together as they were made by different people and will undoubtedly make your pc crash due to inconsistencies in game data.

Best thing to do is just choose 1 mod or uninstall/reinstall every time you want to try a different mod. if you do so regardlessly then its your risk if your game screws up and you have troubles accessing your old characters. best to back up what you have before doing anything doubtful like this.

I've never played an elder scrolls game but my friend keeps saying its really good but it sounds very big or complicated for someone who's never played anything like it before

i normally play Sain't Row 3 or call of duty mw3 a little bit but my favorite games would be dead island, red dead redemption, gta and mag

so would someone like me like skyrim?Never played elder scrolls is skyrim hard to get into?
One question you have to ask yourself is if you enjoy RPG open world games. Bethesda is known for making great intense RPGs (role playing games) If you like games where you can make yourr own character, make your own decisions that affect gameplay, and collect loot then this game is for you.

I have played every single Elder scrolls game and i love them all. I also love games like battlefield3 or halo. Skyrim is not too hard to get into if your open minded and like adventure. Since you've never played an Elder Scrolls game it might take an hour or so to get the learning curve down but i can promise it's nothing that will fry your brain by any means:)Never played elder scrolls is skyrim hard to get into?
Anybody can love Skyrim. It's very addictive. It's not really all the complicated, though there will be somethings you'll need to figure out, and you will need to use your head a bit. Even if you've never played an Elder Scrolls game. If you care about lore, you can watch this to get the basics.

have not played it yet, but i figure it Must be good. my reasons for this? gamer critics constantly bash rpgs, even the good ones (a good rpg has a bug, they say its terrible, even if CoD has far more bugs)

and this time the gamer critics say its good. If those picky critics are happy on an rpg, it MUST be good lol
yea its easy to get into :L u start straight away !! I neva played an elder scrolls b4 either but i love skyrim !

Do you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?

I was thinking about getting Elder Scrolls: Skyrim but I would really like to know if Elder Scrolls series has a history of confusing storylines where you need the other games to understand it. Please only answer if you've played all the Elder Scrolls games.Do you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
No you will not need to get the others to get whats going on. You can wikipedia the story lines and have a nice day. Don't stress about buying the other ones. Oblivion was fun and its a good game that will prepare you for Skyrim but then again you might just get tired of the Medieval RPG Scene by the time Skyrrim comes out if you play oblivion up until then. I played halo 3 like none stop and MW2 right before reach came out, and when it finally did I got bored of it fast. I play now but I got an overdose on FP Shooters. So in short, if you want to play an Elder Scrolls game, get Oblivion, but if you feel like you're missing out on alot of info before skyrim then just wikipedia the story lines and you'll be fine. No big dealioDo you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
    Nah, not really.

You should be fine with just playing Skyrim.

I would recommend, though, that you play an Elder Scrolls game so you know you like it because Skyrim will be set up like the othersDo you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
No some people would probably play the first one to follow the plot but I have never played the ones before Elder Scrolls IV but I did enjoy it.
    Understand-Maybe.Enjoy-No.

Is skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?

Do I need to play the other games so i can get what is going on?Is skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
Neither have I and I still managed to log 70+ hours in the game. It definitely is worth it.
I never bought any other Elder Scrolls game before either until I heard some people mention it, so I decided to check it out. The general idea of the game was picked up for me after a few hours of gameplay. Plus how big the world is and how long the game will last you'll most likely love the game.

Hope that helped :DIs skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
Skyrim is a great game. If you have ever played any form of fallout (3 or 4) then it plays very similarly to that. It is basically fallout without guns and with magic :) with a large vast map and if you enjoy it, you will be spending much more time on it than you think.
No, the stories of the games aren't linked. Playing the previous games (especially Oblivion) would help you get into the controls and idea of the game easier, but you can still get into the game pretty easily. Is skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
yeah its awesome ive never played any of the other ones and this is by far one the best games i have ever gotten its 300+ hours long and theres alot of stuff to do you'll never get bored unless you run out of quests which is hard.l
I had never played elder scrolls but skyrim is definitely worth buying, it has so many different roots to go down and doesn't force you to do one specific thing. I can spend hours playing it and I would definitely recommend it.
I have over 300 hours into this game and have never played any other elder scrolls games it is very good slightly addicting for me.
Yeah it's still good I haven't played Elder Scrolls either.

What is the best elder scrolls to buy?

What is the best elder scrolls to buy? and i have a few questions

    1. I have never bought one of these games before and want to know which is the best?

    2. I like vampires and werewolves does it have allot of that?

    3. Can you play as a man or woman? What is the best elder scrolls to buy?
Skyrim is the best Oblivian had vampires and skyrim got that and added werewolves u can play as a male or female
Depends if you're a fan of the classics, if so you can download Daggerfall for free but you'll need to use dosbox to run it. Morrowind Elder Scrolls III is pretty decent too however rather old now seeing as it was released in 2001 (I think). As for oblivion great game and I'd totally recommend it. As for werewolves and vampires, yeah there's a bit of that, not a great deal though. And I haven't played Skyrim. What is the best elder scrolls to buy?
Skyrim looks the best. If you're on a very tight budget, I'd recommend maybe buying Oblivion second hand for practically nothing, and seeing if you like it, so you don't end up spending money on Skyrim, and not enjoying it, because they are a similar sort of thing, I doubt if you hated one you'd like the other

  • What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Platinum Hit and the game of the year edition?

    Hey,

I want to buy this game and so far, I want The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year edition because of the DLC included. Before I buy, I found there was a platinum edition of the game and is it better than the game of the year edition? What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Platinum Hit and the game of the year edition?
To be honest I don't think there is any difference but the way it is packaged like case wise.

What is the difference between the T rated and M rated editions of Oblivion The elder Scrolls IV?

What is the difference between the T rated and M rated editions of Oblivion The elder Scrolls IV? Is it just the rating or is gameplay different? What is the difference between the T rated and M rated editions of Oblivion The elder Scrolls IV?
Actually, the game started out as a T rated game and was later changed from T to a M rated game.

They changed it because it would basically make the game look better to the consumer but it would. There's that and that the ESRB standards for rating games are becoming more strict on violent games.
Rated T games: Violence, Mild language, blood, etc.

Rated M games: Drugs, Mild language, blood, nudity, etc.

What is the difference between the T rated and M rated editions of Oblivion The elder Scrolls IV?
In a word, nothing. The REAL reason is because originally, the game was going to be rated T for blood violence, the like. But the skill alchemy was apparently affiliated with drugs, and on the PC version it is possible to download mods for nudity. It matters not if you purchased the T or M version, you can skill access the skill and if you have the pc version can still download the mod. The rating is debated, and really depends on the users opinion. Basically, there is no difference.
There are some.... disturbing things in Elder Scrolls IV, the fact that's there are "zombies" with blood and gore, and perhaps the evil demons (though I doubt the demons are why), that may be the difference. So perhaps they don't have blood in the T rated edition... or the zombies, but I've never played the T rated one.... there's also some illicit things in the game, I guess, you can take your victims clothing for your own use which leaves them in their underwear (though not naked in anyway, just a little... revealing.)What is the difference between the T rated and M rated editions of Oblivion The elder Scrolls IV?
Nothing, they're the same only the T was changed to M. Thats all. If you're buying oblivion you're making a good choice. Its one of the best games!

I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?

Also, is the Empire in the elder scrolls 5 skyrim evil? What is there background? What is the background of the stormcloaks? I really trying to decide on which side to take and who is right or wrong.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
    ****SPOILERS****

The only backstory you really need to know concerning past games is that the Oblivion Crisis occurred hundreds of years before the events in Skyrim (that is covered in TES IV: Oblivion), and that the Imperial Legion and the Blades have since crumbled in power. The Aldmeri Dominion (a race of ultra-elven-supremacists) have become a thorn in everyone's side, having fought a great war against the Imperial Legion, a war which ended with the White Gold Concordat. The Concordat, to many Nords and others in Skyrim, was a sellout by the Imperials to the Dominion. The High King of Skyrim was a part of this, and when Ulfric Stormcloak rebelled, it pitted the Imperials against the Stormcloaks. Ulfric, at the start of the game, has just been captured after he used his Thu'um to shout the High King apart. People in Skyrim either think that he is a traitor and has to answer for his crime (most races besides Nords) or that he was part of an ancient ritual where he proved that he, not the existing High King, was fit to rule Skryim.

    That's where you come in.

The Empire in Skyrim is what's left of the Legion from TES IV. They've been spread thin, and are certainly corrupt. However, despite all of their misgivings, they've held Skyrim under their dominion since its creation, and if the Stormcloaks succeed, all races other than the Nords will be expelled out of Skyrim. (Consider them like the Roman Legion under Caesar, both good and bad)

The Stormcloaks are the loyal followers of the rebel leader, Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm. They are (mostly) extremely racist, and in Windhelm have created a ghetto for Dark Elves where they are abused and mistreated. Stormcloaks believe that the Empire sold out to the Dominion, and that they've influenced Skyrim long enough. They fight to free Skyrim and argue that all true Nords would follow their example. They have more moral support on their side.

Neither side is right or wrong--each has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Stormcloaks generally focus on Light Armor while the Imperial Legion endorses Heavy Armor. Either way, you'll find some things among each side that you'll probably feel uncomfortable about (it's supposed to be somewhat real warfare).

    Hope this helped!
your choice in the intro quest only changes minor details, such as starting equipment (which can be replaced by looting enemies within that quest), your contact in Riverwood, and some minor changes within the civil war questline in the form of dialogue options.

In the civil war questline, your decision determines where you will be invading. To figure out beforehand which holds are allied to which faction, you can look at any of the territory maps (located in any jarl's home building). they can be recognized by red and blue flags pinned to them.

Many people are biased against the Empire, as they are to be executed by them for no real reason in the intro, as was I from the beginning, but neither is really better than the other.

TES 5 Skyrim was my first game in this series, and I knew next to nothing of the backstory until i played through. basically, there was a "Great War", where the Empire almost lost. they signed a treaty, which banned worship of Talos (one of the 9 deities) because he was a man first. The civil war is, in part, a result of this, as well as a racial/nationalistic war. the Stormcloak Nords (Skyrim natives) don't like the Empire (seen as puppets of the elves) controlling them, or the non-human races (for varied reasons).

One of the reasons I like Skyrim is that there is no need to know the history going in, as you can learn it as you go along, often at your leisure.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
It depends what you think of. They both have their goods and flaws.

I think it is the type of race you choose (My opinion). Since I made a Dark Elf, I chose the imperials because Stormcloaks are racist to the elves mostly to the Dark elves in Morrowind. Ulfric has killed lots of innocent people. He just wants to gain power. Although Imperials have done many bad things as well.
neither is really right or wrong, if you wan to get a clearer picture of the past games, look for the books in game about the empire and stormcloaks, they give very clear pictures of the storyline.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
Research Storm cloaks and imperials battle and your set.Its not really needed though.

What would you think of a fallout/elder scrolls crossover game?

Lets say your a Brotherhood of steel solider who's being sent back in time thorough a time machine built by the science section of the Brotherhood. Your being sent back to the year 2077 to prevent the war from happening but something goes wrong with the machine and you are sent to the elder scrolls timeline. BTW in my idea both universes are in the same timeline. What would you think of a fallout/elder scrolls crossover game?
Well it can be approved. I like the idea of a Brotherhood of Steel soldier traveling in time, but perhaps a different time period?
Sounds really bad. What would you think of a fallout/elder scrolls crossover game?
not going to happen. They are separate franchises and the game developers would not waste their time thinking of such an idea.
    *Opens time machine door*

"By Azura, by Azura, by Azura!"What would you think of a fallout/elder scrolls crossover game?
Sounds like a fun idea for a Fallout DLC. A full game? hell no.
    Sounds better than Skyrim.

In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?

In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree? For example, I want to level up lockpicking and I'm only making a small amount of progress each successful pick. If I put a point in the first skill bubble (novice lockpicking), will I get more skill points per successful pick?In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?
No. However you can increase the speed of training lockpicking and other skills by using the stones located around the map. The Thief, Warrior and Mage stones are located near Embershard Mine just south west of Riverwood. These 3 stones (can only have 1 activated at any time) grant you a 20% boost in the experience you gain in the governing skills.
The Warrior governs Archery, Block, Heavy Armor, One-Handed, Two-Handed and Smithing.
The Mage governs Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Restoration and Enchanting.
The Thief governs Alchemy, Light Armor, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Sneak and Speech.
As you are wanting to get up lockpicking I suggest travelling to The Guardian stones and activating the Thief one. At a later date you can activate any of the other stones so you do not have to commit yourself to the thief.
No, it still levels the same, I'm afraid.

The best way to increase your lockpick skill is to pick tougher locks, I find. Master locks sometimes increase you by a full level.

An easy way of doing this is join the Thieves' Guild. You will come accross plenty of locks doing their missions, and after a while you get a skeleton key. It works just like a lockpick, but doesn't break.

Is there an Elder Scrolls: Oblivion mod that makes the prices of items more realistic?

I've played elder scrolls: oblivion more times then I can count. After 2-3 years I want to pick the game back up. I remember there was a mod that helped make the price of items more realistic and actually made being a thief beneficial. I forget the mods name. Do you guys know of a good tried and true mod that does this?Is there an Elder Scrolls: Oblivion mod that makes the prices of items more realistic?

Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?

I need a way to restart Elder Scrolls:Oblivion and keep my character and all of his attributes and all of his items.

Is there a plugin or command that will let me keep all of my attributes and all of my items in chests that I have and restart the entire main story with no major skills? Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?
If you start over you can't keep your character unless you save a new one in a different slot. The game can't be redone with everything built up.Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?
There are a lot of mods for Oblivion out there so if you're playing on PC then it's probably possible (personally I like building up a new character so I've never tried).

You could try searching the mod sites themselves

Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?

Ok, I have to admit, skyrim looks amazing. But before I got it, or preordered it, I wanted to know if I needed to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand it. Do I? If I do, will someeone please tell me a brief summary of the previous ones or give me a link to read it?Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
No, I really doubt it. Each Elder Scrolls game has it's own unique storyline and characters. You can play the previous games if you want to get more out of the lore, but by all means, you don't have to in order to enjoy it. I played (and loved) Oblivion long before I ever played Morrowind.
In terms of storyline, no. Skyrim is a completely different game and has a completely different storyline. However, it would help if you have played Oblivion since the concept is fairly similar. Unlike Oblivion (following on from Morrowind), Skyrim is set 200/300 years later and the plot is altogether more complex, however possible enthralling.

So to conclude, Skyrim will be amazing however you do not need to play other Elder Scrolls games in order to understand Skyrim (it would help if you've played RPG games before).Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
No. There might be vague references to the events on oblivion, but normally events are referenced in lore found in in-game books and so on. Each Elder Scrolls game is pretty much a stand alone - they are set in the same universe, but you don't need to play the previous ones to understand a new one. The plot in the previous elder scrolls games weren'tt that important anyway (the main quest sort of took a backseat to the world and all the side quests)
There may be things in the game that are little winks and nods to people who have played the other games, but I don't think that you need to play them in order to understand the storyline. I'm fairly sure, anyway.Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
Absolutely not. I haven't played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games, and Skyrim is the best game I have ever played.
No, each Elder Scrolls game is designed to be understandable for a new player.
Not at all. I didn't play any of the previous games before Oblivion, and I still fell in love with the gameplay and story.
i suggest playing the elder scrolls iv oblivion first but they dont completely go in order
    Nope, anyone can play it

If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?

I'm thinking of buying Skyrim but I also want to play a few elder scrolls games before I buy it. If I start from IV, will I learn the basic story line or will this series make no sense to me?If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?
You wont need to play it for it to make sense, but you will get more immersed because you will be able to relate the games and continue farther in some aspects of the folklore such as the Dark Brotherhood.
I love The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game, it's eaten up loads of my time and i hardly ever get bored of it.

The expansions are awesome- i wish it came with all of them (there are smaller packs that unlock certain areas) but it's still great. Only downside is that it has a few glitches and stuff, and some quests are bugged so you can't even finish them- but these are few and far between; most of the game is playable and awesome. If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?
I have it, the story doesn't say much but the game is very expansive and I highly recommend it to you. The general idea of the game is that you were in a jail cell for an unknown reason and the king sets you free because there is something special about you but then the king dies and your fate depends on you. There is some story but I don't think that it will relate much to skyrim at all.
Different stories overall, Oblivion was more about closing those dreaded demon gates, Skyrim is more of helping out the community and cities while defending from dragons.

You wont be confused of the story line, however If I was you I would DEFFINATLY give Oblivion a shot.If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?
No, you won't be confused. The story of Oblivion is irrelevant to Elder scrolls III morrowind. Play Oblivion, get skyrim and you'll understand in essence what they are talking about.
Skyrim does relate to Oblivion but not that much.

  • If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?

I got hooked into Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Im thinking about getting and earlier title for the series. I know they have it on steam for $20 but I was wanting it on the xbox. If I buy the Game of the Year edition that is supposed to come with bonus content will I be able to play the bonus content if I am not the first owner? If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
The Game of the Year edition came with the two downloads for the game added onto the disk the game comes on, and that isn't effected by who uses it, unless the disk is damaged. So basically, yes you can buy it used and still use the two expansions. If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
If you buy the GotY edition for the xbox you will beable to get the dlc because it is on a disc that comes with it. I don't believe you could redeem codes on the original xbox so now worries of being used up. If it is like the GotY edition of Oblivion than it should come with a separete disc with the dlc so you download it off the disc.If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
trust me on this morowind is awful just awful compared to oblivion the game takes like 10 min to load every time u die u cant quick travel you cant kill someone with a sword to save ur life the story is messed up and stupid just trust me its the biggest let down ever compared to oblivion
