The Elder Scrolls are scrolls that tell the future. The can only be read but the monks of the ancestral moth (who appear in oblivion's thieves guild quests)
The argonians have evolved in a province called Black Marsh. Admittedly in oblivion they are just another generic looking race but in Morrowind (TES 3) they had more of a beast like apperance and quite a big aspect of the game was the Dark Elves enslavement of many argonians.
