What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Game of the Year Edition?

I want to get the game for PS3, but I want to know the difference. Also would you recommend the game? Be descriptive about your answer. My friend wants to get the game too, but wonders if you can get married. Can you? What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Game of the Year Edition?
No you cannot get married or get sexy with anyone. The GOTY addition includes all the DLC, including Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles (which gives you a giant island to explore and quest in that is totally different to the main game). It is quite a deep first person RPG (I'm dismissing the fact that you can play in 3rd person as it is practically impossible to see what's happening in fights) that takes part in a huge, huge typical fantasy world with an amazing soundtrack. Some of the quests, especially the Dark Brotherhood (assassin) ones, are AMAZING, especially when sneaking passed a load of guards and then killing your target. I normally play stealthy with a bow and arrow as the sword fighting can get rather scrappy and quite difficult. The level of interactivity is astounding as almost anything can be picked up, there are tonnes of weapons and spells (and you can enchant weapons with spells to make a sword that deals fire damage for example) and it is overall a great game
Get the GOTY edition. It contains the original game and the Knights of the nine plug-in and Shivering Isles expansion.

I would highly recommend getting it, because it will give you at least 60+ hours gameplay if you get into it. There are a large variety of side quests, as well as quest lines for several guilds (there is a Theive's guild, Fighter's guild, Mage's guild and a group of assassins called the Dark Brotherhood that you can join). The land the game is set in is also massive, and contains a lot of dungeons, forts and caves scattered around.

Also, you cannot get married in the game, and there is no sort of romance available in the unmodified version of the game. What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Game of the Year Edition?
The Oblivion GOTY Edition has ALL expansions which are Knights of the Nine and Shivering isles.

Shivering Isles adds a gate (similiar to the Oblivion Gate) which has a whole new place in it. There are much more quests, NPCs, monsters, and items.

In Knights of the Nine you get an NPC called the Prophet who gives you a quest to become a crusader of the nine. You get new armors and weapons and a few new enemies.

You cannot get married.
Game of the Year Edition has the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions built in (and is also often cheaper than the regular version to boot). Otherwise, you have to buy those expansions online if you want them.

No, you cannot get married in Oblivion. There is very little personal NPC interaction. What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Game of the Year Edition?
There's just more to do on there

but to be honest you'll never do all there is to do on the normal edition

But if the prices are close then go for the GOTY for variety
the GOTY edition just has the expansion packs built in

and if u like to get trophies, u cant get them on that game
